The Dixon Park District prides itself on keeping all of their parks looking good. This summer, however, has been a unique challenge.
The weather has caused the park to delay some of the mowing and upkeep. While it has been hot at times, it has also rained. Despite the weather, the district has still had a successful summer with things such as Sparks Camp. Executive Director Duane Long stated they have kept the splash pads on all summer.
The district maintenance crews have also dealt with downed trees. They had a large tree down in John Dixon Park. The crews have also had to deal with downed trees in Lowell Park.
Long called summer unique because people have noticed when the parks look rough. Long then said that means people have noticed when the park upkeep is doing well.
