
The Dixon School Board held their first meeting of the new school year. Much of the agenda consisted of expense ledgers, summaries and reports.
School Superintendent Margo Empen residing over the new school year meeting for the last time as she will be retiring after this school year. She, along with teachers and staff are ready for another exciting year and understand that bumps in the road are part of the journey.
Empen went on to share that a new classroom has been added at the Thomas J. Dempsey Therapeutic Day School that will provide 7-8 students with social and emotional needs a classroom of their own.
Ashley Henegar is the new Assistant Principal at Reagan Middle School, an alumnus who has come back home. In other news, a school improvement plan was presented for all schools in the district. A 2026 fiscal year budget meeting was established for the September meeting. Fuel for all school vehicles was purchased for the year, and substitute teacher rates were approved.
