The Rock Falls City Council met in session Tuesday night and as usual tended to city matters in an efficient manner.
The council passed a resolution authorizing the extended term of the Municipal Insurance Cooperative Agency Insurance pool and it’s amended by-laws.
One ordinance that was up for first reading and discussion was amending the Rock Falls municipal code providing for a class D-3 Liquor License. City Administrator Robbin Blackert shared that several convenience stores had requested that opportunity to sell hard liquor along with wine and beer.
In other news, a couple of recommendations from the Utility Committee, one to approve the purchase of a 2025 walk behind trencher and new trailer from Vermeer Midwest, in Moline, in the amount of $33,674.00 dollars.
The other, approval to also purchase a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 truck with plow package from Kunes of Sterling in the amount of $65,551.00 dollars.
Blackert is hopeful that the last and final phase of the Micro Industries Project will begin after July 4th. The new parking lot will be on the West end of the lot. Additional work will begin to resurface West 1st Street all the way to the lower dam. If all goes well, work is expected to be completed by the fall.
