One of the biggest events in the Sauk Valley returns to Dixon this week for the 61st time. This is the Dixon Petunia Festival.
According to Petunia Festival Board Second Vice President Leah Nelson, there will be several of the local favorites as well as a couple of new things. The weekend will see carnival rides, car show, music performances and everything ends Sunday night with the fireworks show.
Every day begins with the pancake breakfast from 6:30-11:00 at the High School Cafeteria. The carnival rides start Wednesday evening. Thursday afternoon is the return of the Special Needs Quiet Hours. This is a much quieter carnival rides time for those who may get distressed by load noise. This time is Thursday afternoon from 2:00-4:00. Pre-registration is needed.
