During the Sterling City Council meeting, earlier this month, the members heard about a plan to turn the 24-year vacant National Building into the largest family entertainment center in Northwest Illinois. During the Monday night City Council meeting, they received an update on how the project is progressing.
Colby Snyder from JCB Investments told the council that all of the studies for the project are now complete. The feasibility study showed a 96% chance this would be a profitable business for Sterling.
Snyder showed some of the plans for the project. He said they have had numerous contractors and developers go through the building and look at the plans.
The idea is to create a place with a brewery, bistros, indoor go-karts and more. Snyder also said the name Barrels and Boards was just a concept name. The name of the center had not been determined. He said the public should have a say in the name.
