It was a short and sweet Rock Falls City Council meeting held Tuesday night. One ordinance pertained to where trucks generally prohibited on certain streets.
City Administer Robbin Blackert brought a request by Jim Helle, owner of Folsom Bakery to waive the storm water requirements for 319 1st Avenue, Rock Falls in order to construct an accessory building for storage.
Melinda Jones, Director of Tourism and Events talked about the Art in the Park Sculpture Walk to be held at the RB&W District on Saturday August 23 from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
This is the eighth year of the event with over 20 local and regional fine artists showcasing their work. 13 large scale sculptures will also be on display throughout the RB&W District, 8 of the sculptures will be on display for one year and rotated out each August. In other news, First Ward Alderman Bill Wangelin brought a recommendation from the Public Works Committee to renew the farm lease with Ted Jacobs for Lots 3, 4, and 5 in Glen’s Garden Subdivision consisting of 40.5 tillable acres for the 2026 growing season at the current $178.00 dollars per acre.
