Former Dixon Soccer Star Taylor Harrison Signs to Play Professional Soccer in Sarajevo

Dixon High School graduate, Taylor Harrison is taking her soccer career overseas, signing with SFK 2000 Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Harrison, a standout midfielder, made her mark playing college soccer at Loyola University, where she developed into a dynamic and reliable presence on the field. She started 73 of 77 matches for the Ramblers and scored 18 career goals and added 5 career assists.

Harrison said, “It’s incredibly exciting to sign my first professional contract. Honestly, it still doesn’t feel real! I’m just so happy I get to keep playing the sport I love and even travel the world while doing it. This has been my dream since the first time I touched a soccer ball. Back in elementary school, whenever we had to write what we wanted to be when we grew up, I always wrote ‘professional soccer player’—and of course, I wanted to be Mia Hamm. I might not be Mia Hamm, but getting to live out my dream as a pro soccer player is pretty surreal.”

SFK 2000 Sarajevo competes in the highest level of women’s soccer, competing in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Women’s Premier League.

Harrison on why she signed with SFK 2000 Sarajevo, “One of my former club coaches connected me with SFK 2000, and it just felt like the perfect fit. They compete in the top division in Bosnia, have won 23 straight league titles, and play in the Champions League—so as a rookie, it’s the best place to learn and grow. I get to train alongside some of the best players in the country while experiencing the highest level of competition. And outside of football, everyone I’ve talked to has said amazing things about Bosnia—the culture, the people, the food—and they were right. Everyone’s been so welcoming, and even though I’ve got a lot to learn (including the language!), I’ve really enjoyed living here so far.”

On their social media post, SFK 2000 Sarajevo said:

“We welcome you, Taylor!
Our team was joined by midfielder Taylor Harrison from the United States. Taylor comes from Loyola University Chicago, and although she had the opportunity for other European engagements, she decided to build her new football story in SFK 2000 Sarajevo.
When we had the opportunity to see her on the field, it was clear that she would fit perfectly into our team and our football philosophy.
We will see Taylor tomorrow (Thursday)
in the second friendly match against Al-Ahli, and then in the UEFA Champions League matches that await us next week.”
